Devon photographer catches the Kite buggy action from National PKA racing at Westward Ho! Devon

Devon photographer Guy Harrop caught up with the action as competitors take part in the annual PKA Icicles Enduro buggy race on Westward Ho! beach in Devon. The Icicles Cup is the first National race of the season organised by the Parakart Association and lasts  4 hours round a beach circuit at low tide, getting it's name Icicles from the usually cold UK weather. Said Guy, " It was great to shoot some sports photography again at the weekend, the wind conditions and wet beach spray made for some good pictures".

Over the last few years Guy, has covered several International Kitesurfing and sporting events for publications and clients, and regularly supplies image libraries. His sport images are mainly of kitesurfing, swimming, rugby and surfing. Said Guy, " making time to keep image libraries and picture buyers upto date with regular fresh stock is very important, especially when you are constantly shooting new commissions and a backlog can build up. Hungary's winter markets boost travel image sales for North Devon photographer Guy Harrop

Traveling around Eastern Europe at winter can be fun and very, very cold. Budapest at Christmas is beautiful and the smells are divine - Spicy gingerbread men, hot mulled wine, paprika smoked sausages, wooden hand made crafts and figures. Wooden chalets selling hand crafted goods and beautiful smells in the festive cold air, traditional loud folk music and bell ringing. This year has been a good year for stock images with several sales alone this week from Winter markets photographer Guy Harrop has visited in Eastern Europe. 

North Devon photographer Guy Harrop catches up with Clovelly Herring fishermen as they prepare for their annual herring festival.

Clovelly fisherman Stephen Perham whose family have been fishing for Herring for over 200 years pulls in the days catch on an early morning tide, North Devon. He is a 5th generation herring fisherman and his fish will supply the annual Clovelly Herring festival this weekend which attracts thousands of people each year to the old smugglers village. The fishing village originally worked over 80 herring boats employing over 200 men, today, there are just 2 boats fishing for herring. This season has been exceptionally good with boats landing record numbers.

Crowds welcome home Royal Marines soldiers as they parade through Barnstaple

100's of people cheer and wave flags as soldiers from the Commando Logistic Regiment parade through Barnstaple Devon. Big Ballet image scoops another International award for North Devon Photographer

North Devon Photographer Guy Harrop is celebrating after winning a Silver award in the FEP (Federation of European Photographers) European Professional Photographer of the Year Award 2011 for one of his images of a Russian Ballet company touring the UK.  Guy's entry depicting Big Ballet stars getting ready for their performance at the Landmark theatre in Devon helped him win a silver award in the reportage category of the competition.  The prestigious International competition attracts entries from the world’s top professional photographers and this year, 2011, received over 2,000 entries from over 20 countries worldwide Guy who works across the Westcountry for his client base is regularly published both in regional and national press. This win adds to his tally of over 5 International awards in the last 3 years for his photographic work with images taken from both in the UK and abroad. “It is great to be recognised Internationally for my work and to win an award in such a prestigious competition is just fantastic news.
