National Trust launches 101 quick walks across the South West

Dust off the boots, wipe down the wellies, take out the trainers and flick on the flip-flops! To celebrate the changing seasons with a bit of fresh air fun and uncomplicated outdoor adventure, National Trust South West is launching an exciting new range of one-mile walks.  As part of the Trust’s nationwide Walking Festival, the new ‘National Trust One’ campaign delivers 101 short walks across the South West graded in difficulty from flip flops to wellies to walking boots. Cider apple picking season underway in North Devon

Westcountry Scrumpy time. Apple pickers gather the years cider apples during harvest at Ostler's cider Mill, Goodleigh, one of only a handful of traditional cider orchards left in Devon.  This year has seen their sales increase twofold as Nationwide cider demand is on the up again. 55ft Whale washes up on North Devon coast

Photo by Guy Harrop 10/08/11. A giant fin whale, washed ashore at Lynmouth, Devon. The dead fin whale which measured 55ft is the second largest animal in the world and a globally endangered species usually found in the southern hemisphere.

North Devon PR food photographer working with top restaurants and hotels in the South West

Westcountry based Food photographer Guy Harrop has recently been shooting lots of food as top hotels and restaurants in the westcountry refresh their look. Food is exciting, adventurous and can be tricky to shoot, and working with some leading chefs has kept Guy creative behind the lens. This is a very busy time of year for Guy, as his reputation and regular food commissions and PR work is constantly expanding, he is often travelling all over the country to meet client deadlines.

Having just got back from a working holiday to Provence, France, North Devon PR travel photographer Guy Harrop was lucky enough to catch the last of the lavender fields in full bloom before the harvest. Driving through fields with bright purple blue hues and with the sweet lavender aromas smelling in the air - this was an experience to be remembered. Stumbling on small festivals selling lavender soaps, cushions, lavender bunches, different strength oils, and a favourite in the 35 degree heat, purple lavender ice cream. All photos Guy Harrop

James May on track for miniature train win against the Germans

James May takes on German train enthusiasts Gerrit Braun and half-brother Sebastian Drechsler, from the Miniatur Wunderland model railway attraction, Hamburg, in a miniature train race along the Tarka Trail from Barnstaple to Bideford at the weekend with his friend Oz Clarke.
