North Devon photographer shooting lots of new Exmoor landscapes for clients.

North Devon PR photographer Guy Harrop has been out and about shooting lots of landscapes for several clients in and around Exmoor. There are lots of old Iron age ruins, mounds and forts everywhere, rural life is in abundance but not often on demand. Picking slots in between commercial PR shoots and trying to plan when the sky is half decent can be a big challenge. Often things don't work out, but when they do it is great. North Devon photographer wins a runner up prize in world's first ever International Food photographer competition.

 Freelance North Devon photographer Guy Harrop is celebrating his success in the first ever international food photography competition the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2012. The competition attracted more than 3,000 images worldwide with entrants from over 60 countries, with the awards ceremony held at the Mall Galleries, London.

Guy, a photographer working in the westcountry for over 20 years, had two photographs shortlisted in the finals, with his cheese photograph winning a 2nd place prize in the ‘Food and its Place’ category.  Said Guy,“ Winning a 2nd prize in the world’s first ever international food photographer competition is very exciting news for me. Food photography is one of my passions and I am delighted to be recognised at this level. My two shortlisted images were both shot in Devon; one of a Clovelly fisherman pulling in his catch at dawn and the other of a cheesemaker holding a cheese round near Exeter.  I am very lucky to have such a fantastic range of produce and local food on my doorstep.”

North Devon photographer Guy Harrop shooting Opera on nationwide tour

Capturing theatrical moments during an opera or play is very rewarding for a photographer. The theatre is dark, movement and lighting change constantly, and like sports photography you never take your eye off your subject. This weekend was one of those moments. North Devon photographer Guy Harrop was working with a National opera company shooting their promotional material as they were performing Mozart's popular uproarious comic opera 'Così fan tutee' across the UK.

Devon photographer catches the Kite buggy action from National PKA racing at Westward Ho! Devon

Devon photographer Guy Harrop caught up with the action as competitors take part in the annual PKA Icicles Enduro buggy race on Westward Ho! beach in Devon. The Icicles Cup is the first National race of the season organised by the Parakart Association and lasts  4 hours round a beach circuit at low tide, getting it's name Icicles from the usually cold UK weather. Said Guy, " It was great to shoot some sports photography again at the weekend, the wind conditions and wet beach spray made for some good pictures".
